De La Soul Child, born Christopher Moises Torres is a Puertorican and Dominican Poetic Expressionist Artist, Poet based in New Jersey.

De La Soul Child’s art practice is a blend of art and poetry, drawing inspiration from personal, everyday experiences. Each art piece created a true reflection of the artist’s soul, no matter the medium and no matter the aesthetic of art created.

Soul Child’s art practice dates back to a child, when he would write poetry and small stories in his journal, and would often sketch in childlike form on anything, and had a big red camera, which his mother gave him that he cherished growing up. All without considering himself an artist. It wasn’t until 2012 when the artist started to explore art in many mediums, starting with hand-made accessory designs, to photography, fashion designing, and all in between these art practices, the artist would draw, sketch, and paint on a lot of paper. As 2015 came around, art as a whole became an art therapy to express his emotions that he often kept inside. During 2015, the artist started to paint on clothing as his main medium, exploring art and design, while continuing to draw, sketch, and paint. There was true tenacity within the artist during this time, locking himself in the garage, where he made his art studio in NJ.
